Feedback
Feedback is a process in which information about the past or the present influences the same phenomenon in the present or future. As part of a chain of cause-and-effect that forms a circuit or loop, the event is said to "feed back" into itself.
In order to get the full potential of feedback, here are some guidelines you can keep in mind when you are giving feedback (giver) or when you are receiving it (receiver):
GIVER
-
Consider needs of the receiver.
-
Given when asked for.
-
Descriptive and specific (examples).
-
Focus on behavior that can be changed.
-
Do not judge.
-
Express feelings (from PERSONAL perspective).
-
Short after behavior (if possible and asked).
-
Allow freedom to change or not to change.
-
Also give positive feedback.
RECEIVER
-
Listen carefully and actively.
-
Don´t let defenses build.
-
Ask clarification.
-
Do not overact (just an opinion).
-
If too much...ask to stop.
-
Thank the giver for his/her gift.
